Mariah thanks the Recording Academy on social media in new photos + Grammys BMC Honors event recap

Last night Mariah Carey was presented with the honor of the Global Impact award at the Grammys presented by The Black Music Collective. This was Mariah’s first time back at a Grammy’s event since 2008 where she performed “Christmas Baby Please Come Home,” and her first time accepting an award on stage since 2006. However this is the first time that Mariah has been shown on stage accepting an award from The Grammys since 1991. She took to social media today to thank the tribute performers as well as the Academy for the honor.

She wrote, “Thank you Recording Academy #BMCHonors for this inedible honor. The event was so powerful and beautiful. I think I cried about 3 times. Thank you Stevie Wonder, Babyface, Tori Kelly , Yolanda Adams and Busta Rhymes - you are all so incredibly talented and made last night so special for me.”

Dior Sovoa, Mariah’s hairstylist, shared these two photos

Kristofer Buckle shared this beautiful photo of Mariah to his Instagram.

Flavor Flav stopped for a photo with the queen, which he later shared with the caption,

“FLAVOR FLAV::: Mariah you on fire. Man,,, I am so blessed to attend the Grammys Black Music Collective dinner and see so many icons in one room and legendary performance.”
