“Portrait of a Portrait” - The Audible episode and the ‘Portrait’ Remix

Mariah Carey returned to Audible this week to participate in their original subscription based podcast ‘Words + Music’ to discuss the making of her song “Portrait,” as well as the making of the “Hopeful Child Remix.” Carey invited the listeners into her Butterfly Lounge to discuss in lengths about her emotional development, and the journey of personal growth that she had to arrive at in order to create an honest song about where she was at that moment in time. She opened up about her child hood, and how she’s been expressing her most honest self through her writing from the moment she knew she could. ‘Portrait’, which served as 2018’s album “Caution” closing track, has ties to her catalogue of personal deep cuts, but even closer ties to the optimistic child she has kept inside. She then finishes the episode with a nearly 15 minute blissful journey that is the ‘Portrait - Hopeful Child Remix.’

Mariah spoke to Billboard Magazine upon the release of her second audible installment, as well as her unprecedented success in the music industry. She also took a moment to answer for a couple of questions about her new music projects that she’s “very excited about.”
